The Celeb Faces Of Bingo Sites
- Updated: September 13th, 2018
Are we lured to bingo sites with celebrity endorsements?
We’re all a little celeb obsessed; gossiping about who wore what, wondering who slept with who. From TOWIE stars to singing legends, bingo sites have cottoned onto our interest and started recruiting faces from the celebrity world. Let’s have a look at the bingo celebrity line up:
Two time winner of Foxy Bingo’s ‘Mum of the Year’ award (most recently in 2012), Katie Price has been featured in many Foxy events and can often be seen photographed next to their suited mascot. Ironically, the 2012 holder of Celebrity Dad of the Year is former husband Peter Andre – who fathered Katie’s children Junior, six, and Princess, five, before their relationship ended in a messy divorce. Foxy Bingo has praised Katie Price as a ‘wonderful role model’, while the woman herself added she was honoured ‘because it’s chosen by the public’, or rather by Foxy Bingo fans.
In 2015, Foxy Bingo is more recently represented by TOWIE star Joey Essex. Helping Foxy pick out a new suit, Joey appeared in an online video pulling some strange sexy poses half-naked in a kilt, which of course quickly went viral. Using the hashtag #FoxyGoesToEssex to promote the video on social media, the Foxy website even featured Joey’s iconic catch phrase ‘reem’.
Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown was at the centre of a special 2014 Costa Bingo promotion; Mel’s Diamond Chase – an actual diamond giveaway! The linked TV advert features ‘Melzilla’ (a giant Mel B holding the Costa sun logo) crushing cars and peering round the Tower of London to the awe of passersby, before picking up a tablet to play a good ol’ bit of bingo. As you do when you’re Godzilla.
Although not directly promoting any bingo site, it’s difficult to think of Deal or No Deal Bingo without its TV counterpart & eccentric host. The bingo site pretty much gets automatic endorsement!
Barbara Windsor (AKA Peggy Mitchell)
A much loved character from BBC’s Eastenders, Barbara Windsor has recently taken up a side job as Jackpotjoy’s Queen of Bingo. Working on a new campaign to “re-establish the Queen of Bingo at the heart of the brand’s marketing”, Barbara appears in a puffy, Disney-esque queen’s dress – complete with a crown made of bingo balls. This led to the introduction of a new 90 ball bingo room called Bingo Royale where ticket prices vary from 10p to £1, and with it the size of the Super Jackpot varies from £1,000 to £25,000
Gala Bingo actually used social data to find the best celebrity match for their site, tracking the digital and social footprint of celebrities against their target audience. Who was their celebrity match? Peter Andre! The face of Gala’s WIN WIN BINGO promotion in 2012, visitors to the Virtue Fusion site could party with Peter on a virtual tour!
Gala’s next celebrity match up came in 2014 when Sharon Osbourne was introduced as the brand’s new bingo star. And get this – Sharon Osbourne actually enjoys playing bingo in her spare time! Next time you’re on Gala, keep on the look out for a chat name like “Sharon123” or “Osbourne4Life” – it could happen! Gala eventually launched a whole new site for the celebrity; Sharon’s Bingo, featuring a Sharon Osbourne themed scratchcard and games/rooms named after parts of Sharon’s life – such as her children Kelly and Jack.
