Captured on video from a staff member’s mobile, players filled the hall with cheers and applause after the caller told the winner her total prize winnings. This came straight after already winning the smaller £5,000 prize in a previous game. The announcement went as follows:
“It was called by 47 on numbers by our own in-house winner in Wrexham. You’ve got an additional £5,000 so very well done to you,” he said. “However, on top of that you claimed on one of the jackpot numbers. You’ve got yourself on top of the national game prize, a national jackpot – brace yourself love. Today, you’ve won yourself love – are you ready for this? – £188,508! So, very well done to you. Deservedly so.”
The National Bingo Game has been operated by the National Bingo Game Association since 1986. Known to bingo fans as simply “The National”, the game offers players at participating clubs the opportunity to win life changing cash prizes twice a day, every day of the year (except Christmas), as well as the chance to win one or more of three cash prizes. The scheme frequently give away jackpots well over £100,000, including a recent Beacon Cricklewood Prize of £230,000 and a Southend Prize of £275,000, both scooped in the last couple months.
A spokesman for Mecca Wrexham said: “We’re absolutely delighted for the lady who is a regular customer. It’s always extra special when it’s one of our own customers and we hope she continues enjoying her bingo at Mecca Wrexham.”
