£190K Bingo Win for Aspiring Nurse
- Updated: October 9th, 2014
Aimee Law knew her future was in nursing, but worries about how she’d pay her way through university were casting dark shadows over her dreams.
She no longer has to worry however, as she has just won £190,000 on the National Bingo Game at Castle Bingo in Brigend, Wales, and can now pay for her nursing course.
Driven by her dream to be a nurse, Aimee Law was facing the reality of paying her way through university only through scrimping and saving for 3 years.
The 25 year old from Bettws recently started a nursing course at the University of South Wales. She had worked hard to get to that point, but there were still a lot of sacrifices to be made to reach her end goal.
But now she can realise her ambitions with no money worries at all!
Ms Law says: “I’d wanted to be a nurse for a while. I’d gone to Brigend College three years ago to do an Access to Higher Education course which would give me the qualification to get into university.
“I then applied to university, but didn’t get in because I didn’t have enough experience. Then I got a job in a care home for the elderly and subsequently managed to get into university because I had gained that bit of experience.”
Aimee gave up her regular income, which was an incredibly tough decision as she was having to provide for both herself and her six year old son Morgan.
“The win is heaven sent for me. I can pay for the course now. It’s amazing”, an excited Ms Laws said of her win.
She also plans to splash out on a holiday, a new house and plans to marry her boyfriend of 8 years Matthew Rees – a chef at Princess of Wales Hospital in Brigend.
Castle Bingo Brigend general manager Serena O’Brien said: “We’re so pleased for our club winner Aimee. She comes to play bingo every couple of weeks and it’s great to see one of our regulars walk away with the jackpot.”
Aimee was presented with her cheque by the company’s chief executive Jeffrey Harris at a special event for their big winner.
“We hosted a huge party session for her on Monday evening – it was such a special evening”, added Serena.
At the party session, every Castle club in the UK offered a free meal and glass of bubble to their visiting members. More than 4000 complimentary meals were enjoyed on the night, all courtesy of Aimee’s big win.
