Two bingo workers from Greenock in Scotland are planning on doing a marathon in aid of charity, and it’s set to be quite the challenge!
James Watson and Karen Carson both work at the Mecca Bingo in Greenock, and they have decided to lace up and get their walking shoes on to do the Kiltwalk next month – from Glasgow to Balloch.
General manager James says he’s aware of the toll 26 miles might take on his feet, but it’s worth it for a good cause!
He said he and Karen, along with another colleague, had taken part in the same walk last year.
“26 miles is a long way and I did have blisters and sore feet the next day, but it was worth it.
“We’ve already raised about £400, but we’re hoping to raise in over £1,000.”
The pair, who make up the 50 strong Mecca bingo team have been named ‘The Mecca Kilted 50’, were thankful to the support from customers.
James said: “Our customers are amazing when it comes to supporting events like this.
“They helped us raise over £1,700 last year.”
Around 10,000 people are predicted to participate in this year’s Kiltwalk.
It is being held on 12th April – starting from Hampden Park in Glasgow, and ending up at the Loch Lomond Shore in Balloch.
