WDW Bingo & Friends Walk for Charity

WDW Bingo is pleased to announce that we are taking part in the 2020 EGR Operator Awards Virtual Race to raise money for gambling charities GamCare and YGAM.

Nominees at this year’s awards as well as those in the iGaming space have been encouraged to take part in the “virtual race” and share their stories. Prizes will be awarded to the best journeys and the best photos at the digital awards ceremony on the 11th and 12th November.

The event is an opportunity for members of the online gambling industry to get together and do their part to help vulnerable gamblers in a period when, of course, no events can take place in person. Also, it’s a perfect opportunity for participants to stay active during these trying times.

WDW Bingo has joined forces with our sister site, Best New Bingo Sites, under the banner of Team FTD Digital, our parent company. Together, our team of Sue Dawson (BNBS Editor), Dale Shelabarger (Copywriter) and myself, Harrison Score (WDW Editor), will be walking and cycling our way to over 120 miles in South West London.

Participants were able to undertake a choice from the following distances:

  • 30 miles
  • 60 miles
  • 90 miles
  • 120 miles (or more if you’re up to it!)

So far, Sue has completed over 90 miles by herself. An incredible achievement in and of itself, she expects to complete 120 miles single-handedly by next week. Dale has chosen to cycle the towpaths of the River Thames and I will walk 30 miles as a gesture of solidarity.

We hope to raise over £200 for the digital event’s chosen gambling charities. Many of you have probably heard of GamCare, the UK’s premier resource for problem gamblers seeking advice and help. The money raised will help them to continue to provide round the clock assistance including their 24 hour helpline.

YGAM is a less well known charity but does equally important work. Short for The Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust, YGAM educates young people from school age to university age to safeguard them against the potential harms of gambling.

If you would like to make a donation to this brilliant event to help these fantastic causes, please head over to our FTD Digital Virgin Giving page. We would greatly appreciate it!
