Highly Volatile Starburst Slot Coming Soon?
Starburst, the world’s most famous online video slot, is known for its consistency. Part of what makes its appeal so wide is the low volatility. However, word on the street is NetEnt’s next big release could be a reimagined version of the classic game that we all know and love.
Starburst, with its whirling synths and iconic graphics, is the most internet’s most recognisable video slot. It is the most common slot available in welcome bonuses and it’s pretty much a must have for any budding casino.
The game’s creators, Sweden’s NetEnt, have launched many more popular slots over the years like Gonzo’s Quest and Dead or Alive, and have chosen in the past to not tinker with their flagship product.
In fact, up until recently, their roadmap for new content this year had involved pumping out more brand-new titles.
However, it looks like this roadmap is to be altered after NetEnt was recently acquired by Evolution Gaming, the live casino legends who are expanding fast.
According to EGR Magazine, Evolution Gaming’s Chief Product Officer, Todd Haushalter, has swept in to redirect the developer’s strategy. Prior to Evolution’s takeover, NetEnt had been struggling somewhat as a business, which came as a surprise to many in the industry.
Haushalter’s course correction includes a focus on quality over quantity, and utilising the company’s rich back catalogue more fully.
The report suggests that the CPO has scrapped many of these new releases in favour of a focus on rebooting some of their best loved brands. This includes a higher volatility revamp of Starburst.
Starburst is known for its relatively low volatility which means wins are likely to be smaller and come more often. A higher volatility Starburst would reward players with bigger payouts but presumably less frequently.
This news has not yet been confirmed by the company, but in our opinion a suped-up version of Starburst is a sure-fire winner!
