About Paddy Power Bingo
Paddy Power Bingo is a Virtue Fusion bingo product that has charmed and tickled our players for years. For many years the jolly emerald bookies had a slightly male, middle-aged reputation centred around their high street betting shops.
However, in November 2013, following a timely makeover, Paddy Power Bingo unveiled their striking new brand image. The use of pink and dark green throughout their website was an incredible exercise in re-branding to appeal to a new type of player. The bingo player whom we know and love.
In early 2017 the technology was updated with HTML 5. This upgrade greatly improved the website’s functionality and made them pioneers in the bingo field. A truly remarkable turn around.
Paddy Power: A Brief History
Following the merger of three existing Irish bookmakers, the Paddy Power Company was formed in Ireland in 1988. In 2016, Paddy Power Betfair PLC was created when Paddy Power PLC and Betfair Group PLC merged to become one of the country’s best-known sports betting and gaming operators.
The business is divided into four divisions
- Australia
- US
- Retail
- Online
Two major brands sit within the Online Division – Betfair and Paddy Power, a business which targets, “social entertainment-led customers.” This includes Paddy Power Bingo which is run by their E-Gaming department.
The company freely admit to having a, “tongue in cheek” approach to marketing and certainly over the years have caused a few eyebrows to be raised. Despite or perhaps because of their unorthodox approach the business has thrived. They said, “Doing things differently, believing in ourselves and each other and never settling for second best has led to double digit growth.”

Social Media
Paddy Power Bingo’s lack of an up-to-date presence on major social media sites is surprising. From a company perspective it’s a lost marketing opportunity but more importantly players miss out on the bite-sized pieces of promotional and company news which social media is so good at delivering.
- Facebook: At the time of viewing the last post on @paddypowerbingo Facebook page was made over three months previously. This may have changed since the time of writing. The @paddypower betting and sports news site is current.
- Twitter: The @paddypowerbingo Twitter account has the clarion call, “Follow us to hear all about the Paddy Power Bingo promotions” but all it offers is out of date content. At the time of viewing the last tweet was made over a year ago. This may have changed since the time of writing. The @paddypower betting and sports news site is current.
- YouTube: Paddy Power Bingo’s Youtube channel also has meagre and mostly out of date pickings. This may have changed since the time of writing.
Paddy Power Bingo on Mobile and Tablet
On Paddy Power’s fully responsive site it’s a straightforward process to enjoy all the games in the portfolio on both mobile and tablet – so you can easily play on the go.
Android app
The Android app can be downloaded directly from Paddy Power Bingo. There are only four simple instructions to follow:
- Go to Settings/security.
- Turn on Unknown Sources.
- Go to Notifications and tap PP-Bingo.apk.
- Install PP-Bingo and run from applications menu.
iOS app
- The iOS app for iPhone and iPad, last updated in 2020, is downloaded directly from iTunes. It is not the most highly rated bingo app. As of September 2020, it has 2.5/5 stars.
Paddy Power Bingo Usability and Registration
The registration process, whether using the app or signing up online, is relatively straightforward. Fill in the form, complete the legally required identity verification and then within 24 hours you should be good to go. Any queries or difficulties should be quickly dealt with by the support team. On the down side some of the important pages are not immediately obvious to a new player. For example an overview of how each bingo game works – what’s the game about – and the rules surrounding that game are not easily found. Better signposting on the Bingo site would solve that problem.
However, one of the positive things about the site is the ease in which a player can switch between Bingo, Slots and other parts of the site.
Paddy Power Bingo Final Thoughts
The Which Bingo Online Bingo Annual Report 2017 noted that Paddy Power was one of the brands notably absent from advertising on TV during 2016, although they continued to spend on digital media. The Report also places Paddy Power at the bottom of the list of the top 15 bingo brands searched for in Google in December 2016.
2017 may prove to be something of a heyday. Now in 2020, the bingo site has lost a bit of its sheen and faces incredibly stiff competition from rival Playtech bingo sites like Buzz Bingo. But that’s not to say that there are plenty of positives.
There’s a wide range of ever-changing promotions to keep the site fresh and the customers engaged. However, Paddy Power Bingo makes poor use of social media for promotional information and company news. On the positive side, the company works hard to help overcome issues of customer isolation, recognising that for many the chat rooms and their moderators add that important element of social engagement to proceedings.
There are a number of issues the company needs to work on, including website navigation which is sometimes confusing. For example, Call to Action buttons don’t always lead to the expected pages. Also some of the important pages are not easy to find because of the way the site’s structure is designed. An internal search facility would go some way to help with this.
We’d rate this site as 8/10.
