A-Z Online Bingo Glossary

The world of online bingo contains many words and lingo unique to it, and sometimes this can be daunting to new or potential players!

We’ve compiled a list of words and explanations that we think will be really helpful when navigating the ups and downs of online bingo.

A – Admission

Admission is the number of tickets you need to purchase in order to take part in a bingo game.

B – Bingo Card

A bingo card is what you play with. It will typically have 24 numbers on it with a blank space in the middle. The numbers are randomly placed on the cards and each card will be different.

C – Chat Room

Most bingo games have a chat room running alongside them in the bingo room. They are a good way of chatting to other players, encouraging one another and building a sense of community.

D – Dauber

Unlike daubers in a traditional bingo hall, the dauber in online bingo is automatic, so you don’t have to mark off the numbers on your card yourself.

E – Early Bird Game

An early bird game is one played before the regular bingo game scheduled. Sometimes it’s merely the first game of the session.

F – Full House

A Full House is when you have marked off all the numbers on your card.

G – Game Room

These are designed to divide players into different rooms to play bingo games in. It ensures any one room doesn’t get over populated.

H – HB

HB means ‘Hurry Back’ in chat room lingo. Often used by chat moderators to build up excitement and anticipation for players to stay engaged in playing games and coming back for more.

I – Instant Bingo

Instant bingo games are becoming increasingly popular. They can be played without a chat moderator and a multi-player environment. The biggest benefit is that the outcome of a bingo game sometimes takes just seconds to reveal.

J – Jackpot

What you win either a share or all of as a prize for getting certain amounts of lines or a Full House.

L – Late Night Bingo

As the name suggests, these are games played later on in the evening – usually from 10pm.

M – Multiple Winners

This is when more than one player gets bingo at the same time and they win the prize on offer. This prize will usually be divided between all winners.

N – No Deposit

A No Deposit offer is when a bingo site will give you money to start playing bingo games with immediately, without you having to spend any of your own money first.

P – Progressive Jackpot

This is a jackpot that keeps increasing in amount until it is won. It builds daily, weekly or monthly if it isn’t won in a specific amount of calls. You usually have to buy special tickets for these games.

R – Redeem Points

This is how you turn bingo points into credits for playing bingo.

S – Speed Bingo

In speed bingo, numbers are called out every 2 seconds, rather than every 4 or 5. These games are faster, and many players find them more exciting.

T – TG

TG means ‘To Go’ in chat room usage. Players will typically type 1TG, 2TG, 3TG etc, all denoting how many more numbers they need in order to win.

V – VIP Scheme

This is a programme of special offers, points and sometimes prizes available to those players who have regularly deposited on a site and have shown their loyalty.
