Clifton Bingo Hall Hosting Free Christmas Meals
A Clifton Bingo Hall in Leominster, Herefordshire is teaming up with the local Co-op to provide free Christmas dinners for those in the community that need it.
On December 24th, the Clifton Bingo Hall will close to bingo players and open up as a socially distanced dining room. The food will be provided by the Co-op and employees at the bingo hall have volunteered to serve for the occasion.
The organisers believe that they will have enough room for 50 people, at distanced tables for four. There will be three sittings over the course of the day meaning that up to 150 people will be fed. The meal will feature three delicious courses.
Those in the community who are eligible for this Christmas feast include people going through financial hardship, people unable to cook for themselves, or people who may have to spend Christmas alone.
The General Manager, Lee Ellsmore, paid tribute to his staff, who are giving up their time to volunteer for this fantastic cause. He said:
“This is for all of those going without a Christmas meal, or who are lonely at Christmas.”
He also wanted to emphasise that this was a Covid secure premises. Masks must be worn when entering or leaving the building and details should be left for the NHS track and trace effort. Finally, he made a plea for last minute donations from the wider public. He said:
“If people would like to make a donation, we would be very grateful of crackers for the tables, or we will collect cash donations for Leominster Food Bank.”
Many people will be facing a tougher time than usual this Christmas. We must all do our bit to help out. We’re thrilled to see the bingo community coming together and doing something for the greater good. We at WDW would like to thank all those workers at Clifton Bingo who are pitching in!
