The £7 million construction project in the Festival Park at Rigby Road development has been halted in the past few weeks, leading locals to raise an eyebrow at whether the building would be completed.
However, a spokesperson for Club 3000 Bingo stated that the delay was simply caused by the company entering into a negotiation to buy the freehold of the site altogether. She said:
“We have subsequently made an offer to buy the freehold and are awaiting a decision. We remain determined to open a fabulous venue at some point in 2021.”
The project, built in the wake of the demolished Swift Hound pub, will include a drive-through restaurant and is expected to create over 50 jobs. The bingo hall will join various other well known establishments on the Festival Park estate including an Odeon, Frankie & Benny’s and McDonald’s.
In a demonstration of the tough times that the land bingo industry face, the expected birth of Club 3000 Bingo comes almost simultaneously as the closure of another famous Blackpool bingo hall.
The Empire Bingo Club, a classic art-deco cinema edifice built in 1929 on Hawes Side Lane, will close for good. The family that has owned the property for almost 50 years announced in June that the site would close. Due to the pandemic and tough economic conditions, the site would not be re-opening. Because of the building’s age, according to the owners, the introduction of safety measures and social distancing was not possible.
Empire Bingo used to be available online as a Mega Reel site, much in the mould of Balmy Bingo. However, this site is no longer available to WDW customers. Club 3000 Bingo is likewise available online in a vibrant purple form!
